Regularity is more than frequency

The most visible gain from adequate fibre is regularity, but regularity is not only about going every day. It is also about ease, stool form, comfort, completeness, and predictability.

Fibre helps because it changes stool structure. Some fibres hold water, some add bulk, some form gels, and some feed microbes. Together, they give the colon better material to shape. That is why fibre should not be described like a laxative. A laxative forces a result. Fibre supports a system. When the daily pattern is adequate and water is present, digestion can become less random, less strained, and easier to trust.
