Regulatory Considerations for Fibre Ingredients
Review ingredient identity, intended use, analytical declaration and claims for the destination market.
Four separate questions
- What is the material? Confirm its composition, manufacturing route and grade identity.
- How will it be used? Establish the finished-product category and intended users.
- What can be declared? Review the analytical basis and applicable dietary-fibre definition.
- What can be claimed? Check the proposed wording and the evidence and conditions relevant to that market.
An analytical fibre result alone does not establish every regulatory permission or health claim. A material described in a different country’s guidance does not automatically establish its position in India.
A primary-source example
The FDA’s dietary-fiber questions and answers explain the US distinction between analytical measurement and the material that can be included in a fibre declaration. Use it as a US reference, with a separate review for the actual destination market.

Prepare the review brief
Provide the ingredient specification, intended food category, proposed inclusion, target market and draft claim wording. Confirm the applicable requirements with the responsible regulatory adviser before releasing the product label.
