If you are new to fibre supplements, start simpler than you think.

First, look at food. Add one fruit daily, one extra vegetable serving, one bowl of dal or beans, and a smarter snack like roasted chana or nuts. This gives your gut a base before you add powders.

Second, choose the fibre by behaviour. Psyllium husk thickens and needs water. PHGG and acacia fibre are usually lighter. Prebiotic fibres may feed gut bacteria but can cause gas if taken too quickly. Resistant starch is different again. Do not buy only because a label says gut health.

Third, start with a small serving. Many beginners take too much and then blame the product. Increase slowly over several days. Drink enough water, especially with psyllium. Do not take fibre supplements close to medicines unless your doctor says it is fine.

Fourth, track comfort. Is your stomach calm? Is the drink easy to take? Can you repeat the routine? These questions matter as much as the fibre number.

Avoid miracle claims. Fibre supports healthy digestion and daily nutrition, but it is not a cure.

The beginner rule is simple: food first, low dose, enough water, honest label, steady habit.

Most beginner mistakes are not about the wrong fibre. They are about the right fibre taken at the wrong dose, too soon.
